The Raven’s power is weakening and outside forces are threatening Iraden’s borders, and in the midst of all this, the Lease has suddenly disappeared leaving their contract to the Raven unfulfilled and the city vulnerable for the first time in centuries. No other God has been a match for his power for centuries, but it is clear that things are about to change. The great God’s power is gained from the sacrifice of a Lease a human chosen by the Raven to rule the kingdom and enact the Raven’s will in return for his life. The Raven protected the kingdom of Iraden from atop his tower in Vastai for centuries, allowing the city to flourish unhampered from outside threats. It is, rather, Do you care?” What is this book about? The relevant question here, it seems to me, is not any of those things. ![]() One can make any number of careful and informed guesses.
